Pork Loin with Bruce's BBQ Rub

Pork Loin with Bruce's BBQ Rub

Looking for a BBQ recipe but you don't have all day to smoke and slow cook your meat? While the differences between grilling and barbeque can be debated, there is no doubt that Bruce's BBQ Rub is a foundation for authentic BBQ flavor, smoked, slow cooked, or grilled.

This easy pork loin recipe uses Uncle Bruce's BBQ Rub Seasoning and can be prepared and served in under an hour.

The pork loin, not to be confused with pork tenderloin, is a cut from the top of the loin, which is located behind the shoulder and rib cage. It's a long, lean muscle that runs along the spine. The pork loin filet is generally more affordable than the tenderloin, and is widely available in grocery stores and butcher shops.

Prepare your pork loin by trimming any excess fat.  Place meat on a plate or tray and pat dry with a paper towel. Generously apply Uncle Bruce's BBQ Rub coating all sides of the meat.

Allow the rub to rest on the meat for 30 minutes. You can also wrap and allow to rest overnight and the meat will absorb the seasonings.

Preheat the grill to 450 - 500 degrees.

Place the loin filet on the grill and close the lid.

Rotate the loin every 5 minutes.  The pork loin filet has a cylindrical shape with a slightly tapered end. It is typically lean and firm with fine grain. Cook on all sides, total cook time 15 - 25 minutes.

Removed from the grill when internal temperature is at least 145 degrees.  Cooking time may vary based on grill and thickness of the meat. For best results use a meat thermometer.

  • Rare (less than 145°) - Not recommended by USDA
  • Medium-Rare (145°-150°)
  • Medium (150°- 155°)
  • Medium-Well (155° - 160°)
  • Well Done (160° +)

Allow meat to rest for 5 minutes before carving. Serve with your favorite southern BBQ sides. Coleslaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, and macaroni and cheese are common side dishes that complement BBQ pork.

Pork loins are an affordable lean cut with a mild flavor. It is a nutritious choice that is low in calories and saturated fat, yet an excellent source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. Use Uncle Bruce's BBQ Rub Seasoning to enhance the flavor of this budget friendly meal.
